Blu-ray and Sony

First of, sorry I haven't been making posts for three months. I just caught up in other things.

Anyways, we all know that despite HD DVD dying, Blu-ray players are still pretty expensive. I think this is a matrketing act on Sony's part. They make the standalone players about the same price as the PS3. They want people to buy the PS3 because of its less than impressive sales. What's up with that? If they actually want Blu-ray to sell, I think their best bet is to lower the standalone players at least $100. This bugs me. I want Blu-ray so bad but I don't think it's worth the huge s**t load of money! What do you guys think?

Do Solid State Drives Have a Future?

Do solid state drives have a future? This question has been bugging me like crazy. I think it does have a future, but I also think that at the expensive price it's at right now for such small capacity, it may be a while for people to adapt to flash drives for their laptops and soon desktops. I mean look at it. They already have terabyte hard drives. You could get two terabyte hard drives and run those as a RAID 0. Of course they aren't as reliable and fast, but why spend $1,000 to run a RAID 0 with two 64GB solid state drives when you could get two terabyte hard drives for only $500? It's common logic. The solid state drive makers have to eventually catch up or else they'll be left in the dust. What are your thoughts?

How Long Blu-ray Will Last

Blu-ray has won the HD format war, but is the war really over?
Apple has come out with the Apple TV that lets you download HD movies over your broadband internet connection. Many analysts and tech geeks predict that Blu-ray won't last as long as DVD. I'll have to disagree. Sure Apple TV will get popular, but I think Blu-ray will still survive along with Blu-ray.
I think this because you're always going to have the non-tech sabby family that doesn't even know what wifi is let alone set up a thing that connects to your TV and downloads TV shows and movies directly to your TV. There will always be people like that, and thinking that it's complicated to set up and do will want to go to the easier route, Blu-ray.
OK, let me rephrase. Maybe Blu-ray won't last as long as DVD but I think it will get very close. Bottomline: Apple TV is a great idea, but again, there's tons of people that haven't even heard of it or know what it is. Blu-ray is good for less tech sabby people and that will help Blu-ray thrive.
